When importing leads the match option can be selected. Matching on email address will prevent duplicates. Additionally, when you convert a lead you are presented with a screen asking which objects (Person, Organisation, Opportunity) you wish to create. If a similar Person or Organisation already exists they will be displayed in the “duplicate” list.
Having said that, we are aware of the requirement to merge records. Typos, and the human factor will always have potential to allow duplicates to be created. When this happens a merge would be very handy to merge notes, emails etc onto one record. We are implementing a Process Engine solution to deliver similar functionality in a flexible solution. It will be targeted at Sales Lead and People de-duplication.

We’re delighted to announce that the Workbooks Mobile Client is now available for customer use.
The Mobile Client is specifically designed for smartphones and tablets. Using the client you can access a wide range of Workbooks records: People and Organisations, Leads and Opportunities, Tasks, Meetings and Cases. You can search the entire system, create, modify, view and delete items. Most usefully for when you’re on the road it integrates with your phone to make calls and send emails; you can also copy appointments to your device.
Right now it works best with recent Android and Blackberry devices and especially the Apple iPhone and iPad.
It’s still under active development so technically it’s ‘in Beta’ as we want to add more features to it. We welcome suggestions to prioritise what we should add: please add new ideas to this forum and vote on them.
To use it, just visit the Workbooks… more

@Raquel, @Anonymous - we are intending to release this before the end of this month.
@Alex - Modern Blackberries, running OS6 and later, are expected to work. If you can contact us I will pass you a URL if you would like to try things out. Older Blackberry devices will, unfortunately, not work.

@Tim Crook. In the Person 'show' screen we are going to allow you to 'Copy to local Contacts' which will mean you can locate a set of People (e.g. using the 'Watched' flag or by name) and then choose to copy individual records to your phone where they will be available whether you are online or offline.
Full synchronisation can already be achieved if you are an Outlook user and your iPhone syncs with Exchange: install and configure the Workbooks Outlook Connector. More direct sync - of iPhone Contacts directly with Workbooks via the Mobile client - is not currently planned.

@Brian We will look to support Windows Phone 7 however the schedule depends on how Microsoft progress with it. WP7 is fairly new and currently the OS is in a start of flux with a new browser being rolled out on it shortly - 'Mobile IE9'.

Note: This was delivered in the Summer 2011 release on 2nd September.
“We are making improvements to the Template functionality offered by Workbooks. This will allow you to define a template that can generate either a Workbooks Note or Email record, or a Google Docs document.
Templates will make use of field placeholders / tags e.g.
first_nameand output the value into the Workbooks Note or Email record, or the Google Docs document. In addition to using fields in the record itself you can also generate multiple sections corresponding to Line Items for example those within an Order or Quotation.Once generated, you can share the Google Docs document, restrict access, or allow others to collaborate and make changes. A web link / URL to the document is retained in the Notes tab."

@Raquel Fernandes, @Anonymous - we are planning to make the Desktop run well on tablets such as iPad so that you can choose to use either the Mobile UI or the Desktop.
